Wayang Golek is a puppet drama, a traditional art from Jawa Barat (West Java) province, Indonesia. The Wayang Golek which uses wooden puppets is enacted on special occasions. The puppets are manipulated by one man-the "dalang"(narrator) -who also narrates the story which is based either on the Ramayana or Mahabharata Hindu epics. The performance which can take all night is accompanied by gamelan music with "pesinden" women singers.
