Pelabuhan Ratu Beach

A couple months ago I traveled to Pelabuhan ratu, a nice beach about 150-km south of Jakarta. It takes 3-4 hours to travel there. The Pelabuhan Ratu Bay faces the Indian Ocean with a southwesterly aspect, approximately 45 km wide and 60+ km long. Pelabuhan Ratu translates into Harbor Queen; being called that in respect of the Goddess of the South Sea’s, known to the Sundanese people as Nyai Loro Kidul.

As a region near to the equator here just have only two season; dry season and wet season. The dry season is approximately from April through to October. Most days have clear skies, with a temperature range of 25 to 37 oC; nights are cooler & with pleasant sea breezes. The on shore wind normally starts about 11 am and drops of most afternoons 4 p.m. So both morning and afternoon surfing are possible.
The wet season is from November through to March there are still waves to be hand. The rains after the initial change in season generally settle into an afternoon rain, temperature is cooler. Waves, the typical swell direction is southerly, it is large and good waves to be had all around the bay.
