Jakarta Floods

Incessant heavy rains on Friday triggered flooding in Jakarta, with most of main roads in the capital submerged in knee-deep water, bringing traffic to a near standstill.
Scores of cars were stranded and people were forced to wade through murky water in many parts of the city of 14 million, regularly hit by floods at this time of year.
The main highway leading to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport was cut off for much of the day. The airport was temporarily closed due to poor visibility following the torrential rains.
At least 90 flights were delayed and 55 diverted to other airports. Around 8,000 passengers were stranded after hours of pounding rain inundated nearby highways.
