Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by a parasite, can cause birth defects in children. Many people naturally acquire immunity to toxoplasmosis, and will not pass it on to their unborn child.

Eating raw or undercooked meat is the most common way that humans contract toxoplasmosis. So, if you eat meat make sure to wash off all surfaces and utensils that touched raw meat, and don't prepare meat and raw foods like salads on the same cutting board and don’t forget to wash your hands thoroughly after handling raw meat.

And as toxoplasmosis parasite lives in the dirt soil, If you garden make sure that you wear gloves to protect you contact with contaminated soil.
Toxoplasmosis also can infect your cat if she eats prey already harboring the parasite or comes into contact with contaminated soil.
